New Church Organ Upon having the church organ serviced earlier in the year it became clear that it was at the end of its natural life. Much of the internal electrical circuitry had deteriorated and was so outdated that it was unable to be replaced. Consequently, we have invested in a new church organ at St Patrick’s. The organ, an Ecclesia T150 model Johannus is a superb instrument that will serve the needs of the parish for many, many decades to come, enriching our liturgies with beautiful music and helping support our songs of praise to God. The organ was purchased using funds from the Moira Burgi Bequest. The Burgi family have a century-long association with the parish of St Patrick’s Lilydale, and Moira who passed away on 15 November 2020 (at the ripe old age of 104!) left behind a substantial bequest to the Lilydale Parish. We are most grateful to Peter and Lorraine Burgi for their support for this use of the bequest. The organ was installed this past week just in time for Holy Week, making it something of a musical ‘resurrection’ story! Thanks to Craig Douglass of Bernie’s Music World, and electrician Andrew Zmegac who both assisted with the installation of the organ. I’m also grateful to our organist Baltazar Kurowski who offered invaluable advice in the selection of the organ.
